The Little Butterfly
Today we count in twos all the way to twenty, watch an egg become a butterfly, spell four garden words and build sentences that make sense. Date: today
The Twos Train
Every carriage carries pairs — two little dots, two more, two more… Click the carriages in the right order to blow the whistle and watch the numbers show up.
🚂 Which number is next? Have a good look at the dots.
How a Butterfly Grows
Tap each circle on the ring. A butterfly changes its body four whole times — that change is called a life cycle.
Put the Story in Order
The cards have fallen out of the book! Tap them in the right order, starting with number one.
Build a Word
Read the clue. Then tap the letter tiles, left to right, to spell the word. Careful — two tiles are sneaking in where they don't belong!
Make a Sentence That Makes Sense
Tap the word cards to build a sentence. A sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.
The Symmetry Studio
Butterfly wings are mirror twins: whatever happens on the left happens again on the right. Paint on one side and watch the other side copy you!

Grown-up corner
Lesson 2 · Month 2 (Week 5). About 35–45 minutes with breaks. Materials: this screen, a pencil, paper, and (for the extension) washable paint.
Skills covered
- Number: counting in twos to 20, equal groups, prediction.
- Science: life cycles, sequencing, change over time.
- Phonics & spelling: CVC and long-vowel words — EGG, BUG, LEAF, WING — with distractor letters.
- Reading & writing: sentence meaning, capital letters, full stops, tricky words (the, is, on, a, can).
- Art & geometry: symmetry about a vertical line, mirror images.
Watch for
- Counting by twos as a chant versus knowing that 4 comes after 3+1 pair. Ask for the number before, too.
- Letter reversal (b/d, w/m) is normal at six — say the sound, don't erase it for them.
- If a sentence reads correctly but makes no sense, that's the whole point — ask “does that sound like talk?”
Offline extensions
- Pair socks or shoes and count pairs by twos across the washing line.
- Paint-butterfly: blob of paint on folded paper, press, open, admire the symmetry.
- Go outside and find three living things in the order they grow. Draw and label them.
