Jumping by Twos
Two eyes. Two ears. Two socks on your feet! Things that come in pairs are everywhere — and today you learn to count them super fast: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10…
Today's plan 🎒
- ✓ Look — tap the nests
- ✓ Hop — froggy counts by 2s
- ✓ Spot — what comes next?
- ✓ Quiz — show what you know!
Eggs come in pairs 🥚
Every nest has 2 eggs. Tap a nest and the eggs pop up! Count by twos instead of one-by-one — it's faster!
Froggy hops by twos 🐸
Froggy only lands on every second lily pad. Press HOP! and say each number out loud — 2, 4, 6, 8… all the way to 20!
What comes next?
A pattern is something that repeats in the same order, over and over. Look closely, then tap the piece that finishes it!
Show what you know! 🌟
Five little questions. Take your time — you can do this!
Certificate of Jumping!
This star Super Learner hopped all the way through Jumping by Twos — counting pairs, spotting patterns, and earning 0 stars!
Take it outside the screen
Twos are hiding all around your home. Go and find them!
Sock Hunt
Empty the clean sock basket. Match them into pairs, then count the pairs by twos: 2, 4, 6, 8…
Stair Jumps
Standing safely at the bottom of the stairs, say "two, four, six…" once for every step you climb.
Snack Patterns
Build a pattern on a plate: grape, grape, cracker — grape, grape, cracker. Then ask: what's next?
Notes for grown-ups
Skills in this lesson
- Skip-counting by 2s to 20
- Understanding "a pair = 2"
- Repeating patterns (AB, AAB)
- Early addition: 2 + 2, 6 + 2
New words
- Pair — two things that go together
- Pattern — something that repeats
- Even — numbers you say when you hop by twos
If they're ready for more
Try counting by 5s with hands (5, 10, 15, 20). If twos feel easy, ask them to teach Foxy the pattern — teaching is the best review.
